The same things you would look for in a doctor for your child. Talk to your friends, family members, or neighbors who have pets (everyone has an opinion, collect some and make your own decision). Like everything else in this world there are better vets than others. You want to find one you feel comfortable with (and your puppy is comfortable with) and that you have confidence in.
Some vets specialize in certain breeds, having a vet who knows your breed of dog because they have had that breed for years may give you confidence. If you take the time to inquire, you will find the best vet for you. I want a vet who has had years of experience dealing with difficult issues and conditions, but who stays current on new techniques and theories.
