Day School

This is a three-part training program for puppies.

Part One: For two weeks you drop your puppy off at our training building each morning (Monday through Friday) and pick up each afternoon no later than 5:00 PM.  We will train your dog for you!

Part Two: You will have two private lessons, one at the end of each week. At each lesson you will be given a homework paper so that you can start practicing at home.

Part Three: You and your pup will attend a 7-week Beginners group class. Participation in this group class is vital to ensure that your dog learns to obey you, and can work together with you as a team in a distracted environment.

7-Week Group Classes

Group classes are offered Wednesday mornings; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings; and on some Saturdays.  Please see the “Upcoming Classes” section for more information.

Please Note: Aggression or serious behavior problems are addressed in the one hour private lessons. Group classes are not an appropriate venue for these issues. Please contact us to schedule private lessons.

Please be aware that due to insurance restrictions children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the building with untrained dogs.  We appreciate your understanding and request that you leave the kids at home while you attend classes.

Level 1 Basic Obedience: A program designed for dogs of all ages who have had no formal training. The dogs learn basic commands that enable them to be polite members of the family. The owners begin to learn how dogs think, how dogs view situations, and how to establish themselves as the pack leader in their dog's life.

The first week of Beginners Program/Level one is a mandatory informative meeting without dogs.  We will discuss equipment, how to become your dog's pack leader, and some common behavior problems and their solutions.

Behaviors covered in this program include:

  • Housebreaking tips

  • Polite walking on a leash

  • Coming when called

  • Place-Remaining in one location

  • Learning to ignore distractions

  • Stopping jumping up

  • Stopping excessive barking

  • Stopping destructive chewing

  • Sit, Down & Stay, And more...

Levels 2 and 3 Obedience: The Level 2 program is the natural progression of the training started in the Level 1 Beginners program.  The Level 3 program is the next logical step towards responsible dog ownership.  At the end of this program the AKC Canine Good Citizen test is offered.

Trick Dog Classes: Whether you just want to spend fun time with your dog or aspire to earn titles, the DogSense Obedience "tricks" class will help you teach your dog a variety of tricks including things like bow, sit pretty, push a ball, pick something up, barrel racing, crawl, wave bye bye, and so much more.  Completion of Level 1 and Level 2 group classes are required for this program.

AKC Rally: A great introductory dog sports, AKC Rally is a combination of obedience and agility. You and your dog will learn to work as a team to complete AKC Rally obstacle courses. Our instructors will help prepare you for competitions where you and your dog can earn titles. Competing is encouraged, but not required.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are one-on-one training sessions with just you, your pet and the trainer. Some clients prefer not to train in a group setting, or some dogs may not start out being suitable for group training and private lessons are perfect for them.

Private training is tailored to you and your dog's needs. We will go over obedience curriculum, as well as address any specific behavioral issues you may have. We can help modify fearful behaviors, stress behaviors or aggressive behaviors. Dogs who are under the direction of Animal Services must work in the private lesson program.

Day School Registration

The total cost of this program is $900. DaySchool spots are limited and require advance registration and a deposit. DaySchool runs Monday through Friday. You will drop your dog off at our facility between 7:15 AM and 8:30 AM each morning, with pick-up in the late afternoon between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
